0000347: OpenJDK 1.6 support for Openbravo ERP

DescriptionI attempted an installation in Fedora 9 (Sulphur), with the default OpenJDK 1.6 VM.

I am aware that this is NOT a standard JDK for OpenBravo. But it bears testing in light of the fact that the latest editions of the linux distros are enabling this by default (and the BSDs may not be far behind).

The first time, it failed with a segmentation fault. The second time, it reported an "Illegal Instruction."

This is not an OpenBravo issue per se - OpenJDK 6 is currently very prone to all sorts of crashes. If someone else can reproduce it, testers and users should be advised to give it a wide berth - until further notice.

My installer was verified. It installed flawlessly on Ubuntu 8.04 in my multi-boot test machine (with Sun Java 1.6 update 6).
Steps To ReproduceAttempt to install Openbravo in a Fedora 9 with openjdk.

I noticed that I filed under the wrong category (OpenBravo POS instead of OpenBravo ERP) . It's 1 am in Nairobi and I've been working furiously for 13 hours. Time to sleep.

We'll wait till OpenJDK is stabilized.

This is not a installer issue per se. Once Openbravo ERP supports it the installer will work too. I move this to the Openbravo ERP project, to the platform category.

I update the summary to reflect this.
