0026407: Allow to set the maximum width for the application tabs

DescriptionIt would be nice to have a preference to allow user to set the maximum width for the application tabs. Currently the tabs have a maximum fixed length.
Steps To Reproduce.
Proposed SolutionCreate a preference to truncate the tab title length using a value defined in a preference
