Summary 0049888: Cash Up Error prevents from logging in after doing Cash Up, refresh page and trying to log in very quickly
Revision 2023-05-18 17:53 by cberner
Description When doing Cash Up and then refreshing the page and logging in quickly, sometimes the next error message appears: 'There are cashup errors in this terminal'. It prevents from logging in again until the error is deleted from the database or backend.

This is mainly due to application source code updates. When the source code is updated, the service-worker sends a message to the web to purge the state on refresh/login, that results in losing the local cashup, which allows us to work while we have errors in backend.

This error could happen due to an asynchrony problem, but it is not demonstrated that it could be reproduced manually. Nevertheless, it can be easily reproduced with Cypress end-to-end tests, which execute the Cash Up and the login very quickly. After running CashUp.spec.js (the file which contains Cypress tests for Cash Up) several times, the error occurs and it prevents from logging in again. Also, one of the last two passed tests before the error usually has a mistake during its Cash Up process: the Cash amount is incorrect, being the correct amount multiplied by 2, 3, 4 or more. So the cash accumulates from previous tests, but there are no apparent errors in these tests.

Also, I'm attaching the JSON of the error that appears in the backend (cashUpError.json), and the correspondent error message (cashUpErrorMessage.txt). And here is a video of the reproduction of the error:

Description After running CashUp.spec.js several times on Cypress, an error that impedes executing any Cypress test occurs. When running a test after getting this error, the login process does not finish and a Cash Up Error message is shown.
