| Summary | 0011011: Dual-server installation package for Ubuntu | |||||||
| Description | The current Ubuntu package is "all-in-one", and assumes everything will be installed on a single server. Often, partners and customers want to install the PostgreSQL database on a separate server, using a standard installation package to ensure consistency and fast setup. | |||||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Currently, customers need to execute these manual steps to achieve the same goal: http://wiki.openbravo.com/wiki/ERP/2.50/Openbravo_ERP_Installation#Dual-server_configuration [^] This is a viable workaround, but GPS has asked for a more packaged solution. | |||||||
| Proposed Solution | The Ubuntu installation package should be enhanced like this: * Allow user to choose single or dual-server architecture. * If dual-server is chosen, then tell the user to install on the database server first (since the application server installation will collect information about the database server) * If dual-server is chosen, ask which server the installation is for (database or application) * Collect the appropriate information from the user (depending on database, application, or both) * Install the appropriate components * If only the database was installed, display to the user the database configuration information that will need to be entered on the application server * If the application was installed, display the browser URL | |||||||
