The field on the screen currently called 'Lead Time' is not correctly describing the functionality of the field.
The correct term is "Safety Lead Time", defined by APICS as: "an element of time added to normal lead time for the purpose of completing an order in advance of its real need date to protect against fluctuations in lead time. When used, the MRP system, in offsetting for lead time, will plan both order release and order completion for earlier dates than it would otherwise. Syn: protection time." |

The screens that it is used in, is actually (not the screen noted in description):
Material Requirement Planning (MRP) || Transactions || Purchasing Plan || Header
and
Material Requirement Planning (MRP) || Transactions || Manufacturing Plan || Header
I will contact developer to check what the actual function of the field is and where it is used,so we can decide an appropriate label then. |

I checked the 2.40 beta and there is a field labelled stocking lead time.
There is no field labelled 'Purchasing lead time' (bug 541) nor a field called 'safety lead time (bug 542). Please investigate |
