In 2.40 the wrong behavior (changing the password of the previously displayed user) does only happen if you click 'Change password' on a newly created, not yet saved user and do confirm twice with 'There are changes in the current record. Do you want to continue? (You will lose your changes)' with ok.

Fix will not be backported as issue is not critical and not created as an obn issue. Detect will be fixed for 2.50 branch only.
