0004125: OBN: Add initials for contact-persons in Business Partn
It should be possible to add initials for contact-persons in Business Partner -
Contacts

This is nessecery to be able to create reports which address customers in a proper way.

For a contact it is currently only possible to enter firstname and lastname, but
there should be an extra field to enter the initials (letters) for a contact. These
initials are used in formal communication with contacts

I am not sure I fully understand the business case for this request and it is therefore difficult to assess its priority.

Can you please give me an example of how you would use this additional field?

Do you mean initial as middle name initial (formal usage in the US) like:
First Name: John
Middle Name Initial: T.
Last Name: Smith
Usage: "Dear John T. Smith..."

or as a short version of the name (like it is used in MS Word for change tracking):
First Name: John
Last Name: Smith
Initial: JS
Usage: ???

The initials field should be used to address people in a correct way. This should be inclusive all birthnames.

For example:

firstname: Morten
lastname: Minke
other birthnames: Antoon

Then the initials are M.A.

And to address somebody: Dear Mr. M.A. Minke

In the Netherlands there is also another issue with names in that we have a 'midfix' which also has a special meaning in names:

For example:

firstname: Saskia
birthnames: Bernardina Maria
midfix: van
lastname: Bijnen

Full name: Saskia Brenardina Maria van Bijnen (notice the small capitals for 'van')
Initials: S.B.M.

addressing: Dear Ms. S.B.M. van Bijnen (notice that the midfix is not abbreviated!)

to get full international name support I think the following fields should be available:

<prefix> <firstname> <birthnames> <midfix> <lastname> <suffix>
and <initials> which basically holds the first letters fo the firstname and the birthnames.
