Reopening. The bug has been partially fixed. You can assign an image to a product before you save it but once it is saved it is no longer possible to do it.

This bug is correctly fixed. The problem is that the default image when no one is assigned is too small, just 1px side, so it is very difficult to open the selector.

I have opened a new bug [1] to fix this other issue and I close this one.
