Summary0016303: Date filtering has not masked entry for dates
DescriptionIn other date fields (like in the forms), when you enter a date you only care about numbers and mask is automatically filled (ie. 02052011 will result in 02/05/2011).
However, the date filtering has not this feature, so any user that used to fill dates using only numbers will face troubles in filtering.

This one can't be solved as the date field also allows other values like Yesterday, N years from now etc.

If this is assessed to be an important issue then please contact Rob Goris who can add it to the feature request list to create a completely new date range filter popup.

Hi Pablo

You are right, this is a bit annoying but as far as keyboard operation goes, being able to enter 21-03-2010 instead of 21032010 in case of the date range popup is good enough. With this I mean, it is not worth rebuilding this range dialog just for that.

This said, i noticed that entering the 21-03-2010 format does not go very smooth in the range dialog and also that the tabbing does not work well.

I have opened an issue for this and shoved your issue underneath as dependent.

It works for the column filters as well as in the form fields. Only when using the dialog (for ranges) that is launched from the column filters you need to use the - hyphen symbols. It´s not perfect but what Martin pointed out earlier ("This one can't be solved as the date field also allows other values like Yesterday, N years from now etc.") it is not worth the effort to redesign the dialog just for that.
