0012266: Amortization link in Asset Amortization is not correct
When an amortization plan is created for an asset, in each line of plan, there is a link to amortization.
It does make sense to link to header, instead of line.
Go to Financial management > Asset > Transactions > Asset.
Create a new register.
Fill its name, "Linear" as Depreciation Type, "Time" as Calculate Type, "Monthly" as Amortize, 12 as Usable Life - Months, 01-01-2004 as Depreciation Start Date and Purchase Date, 1000 as Depreciation Amt and Asset Value.
Press "Create Amortization".
Go to Asset Amortization tab.
Go to Amortization link.

In http://live.builds.openbravo.com/erp_devel_pi-full-oracle/security/Menu.html [^] it's working fine.

Link works properly. But it makes no sense this link.

It should be replaced by other one to Amortization line

There is a link to the amortization header, that works fine. Another link can be added to amortization line, if you want. Please report the feature request to do this if you want.

Hi David,

Since that link is not useful from a end user perspective this is an issue. What is true is that maybe it's not that easy

We have to think which is the best way

Hi Guys,

Was surfing through OBPS issues and mentioned this one.

Could you please explain the benefit of having a link to the Amortization line from Asset Amortization tab and removing the previous one?

I mean if to look at the information displayed at these tabs there is practically no different so why then to have this link?

The only difference is that Amortization line shows Asset name while Amortization tab does not. Maybe it is just better to add Asset name to the Amortization tab and that is all?

And in that sense the link to Amortization header is OK for me course allows user to navigate from the particular asset amortization to the period in which it is going to be accounted, for example to process it.

What do you think?

Yes Dmitry, I didn't go to any of those two tabs. But it's clear that you are right. There is no difference at all between those two tabs so I don't see any reason of why the end user would like to browse to a tab which is exactly the same. What it makes sense is how it is right now that you navigate to the amortization. When I talked to NPE I though that the benefit of moving directly to that tab was clear but now it makes no sense to invest time on this.

NPE: Any comments on this?

If Accounting line shows information about amortization line, makes sense to navigate to this tab, and not to header.
It is easier for the end user to navigate to line, and if it is needed to header, than navigate directly to header, and then search the line for an specific asset.

If a tab is showing information a line, it makes sense to add a link to line, not to header.

If any help or comment is needed, please contact me

Sorry but I cannot agree with this approach. I think that if we to add some linked information there should be a reason to use it for the customer (as a part of some business process or sth), but in our case there is nothing so we will just add more complexity but without any value.

I vote for adding Asset name to Amortization tab (to add better visibility in terms of "parent - child") and that is all.
